Imhoaperamhe and Igbinosun shine at AFN Golden League in Oba

Nicholas Imhoaperamhe and Wisdom Isoken Igbinosun dominated the 100m races at the 1st Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) Golden League 2015 series held at the Rojenny Stadium in Oba on Thursday.

Nicholas Imhoaperamhe and Wisdom Isoken Igbinosun won the men and women 100m races at the 1st Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) Golden League 2015 series held at the Rojenny Stadium in Oba, Onitsha, Anambra State on Thursday.

Imhoapermhe stormed through the race in a season’s best time of 10.23 ahead of African Junior Champion, Divine Oduduru, who finished second in 10.37, and Tega Odele who was third in 10.50.

After the race, Imhoapermhe said: “I am excited because 10.23 is my season’s best though it did not qualify me for the IAAF World Championships, but with the two legs remaining, I hope to nick 10.16 secs required for my qualification.”

Isoken Igbinosun won the women race in 11.68 ahead of Nkem Ezealah (11.72) with Cecilia Francis, who had the fastest time in the heats (11.89) settling for third in 11.77.

In other races at the AFN Golden League in Oba, Erayokan Orukpe won the men’s 400m in a season’s best time of 46.28, while Oluwatosin Adeloye clocked 52.70 to beat African Junior champion, Praise Idamadudu to claim the women’s 400m win.

Temidayo Osinbajo won the women 100m hurdles in 13.98 ahead of Oluwatobi Amusan (14.07) and Favour Efe (14.36).

Martins Ogierakhi  won the men’s 110m hurdles in 14.07 seconds. Samuel Okon was second in 14.18 and Benjamin Wisdom finished third in 14.28.

Chinazom Amadi soared past Commonwealth and African Long Jump gold medallist Ese Brume to win the women’s long Jump with a distance of 6.16m. Brume settled for second with a best distance of 6.06m.
